Qayyum Chowdhury Present PositionFreelance artist and graphic designer. Born in 1932 at Feni, Bangladesh. Education BFA, Govt. Institute of Arts, 1954 (presently Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka) Awards 2000 : Sheltech Award, 1999 : Sultan Padak, 1994 : 6th Bangabandhu Award, 1986 : Ekushe Padak (Bangladesh's highest civilian award for contribution in the field of arts) 1983 : Leipzig Book Fair Prize for Book Illustration, 1977 : Shilpakala Academy Award, 1975 : Gold medal for contribution in book design, National Book Center, Dhaka, 1973 : Award in Silver Jubilee Exhibition, College of Art and Crafts, Dhaka, 1966 : Imperial Court Prize, Tehran Biennale, 1961 : 1st Prize for Painting, National Art Exhibition Lahore, Pakistan, 1988, 1982, 1981, 1979, 1978, 1975, 1970, 1966, 1964, 1963 : 1st Prize, Best Book Cover Design, National Book Center, 1995 & 1960 : 1st Prize, Railway Time-Table Cover Design, Positions held Taught at the Government Institute of Fine Arts (presently Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka), Bangladesh, for 37 years and retired as Professor in 1997 |
